Fulani Herdsmen say they're the ones responsible. Government say "It's not Fulani, it's Foreigners". Government knows it's foreigners but does not know the foreigners. Herein lies the real reason why government is not able to arrest, prosecute nor stop the marauders. Government is busy looking for "ghost killers" while the real culprits have the audacity to CAPTURE and OCCUPY territories. Since when did the indiscriminate killing of a civilian by another civilian for "accused theft" become legal? I spent 6years of my growing up, schooling in the North (Minna), surrounded by amazing northerners from different ethnic and religious groups, most of which are still very good friends today. So i was opportuned to witness Herdsmen and their cattle, fulani or not, walking side by side with us everyday as we made the trek to and fro permanent site for classes. They never exhibited this kind of callous, wanton behaviour. At the most, they will always carry daggers of different sizes and dimensions in beautifully coloured sheaths and my friends and i even acquired some for our collections. Of course we knew to disrespect or ignore at our own peril but all in all we interacted together peacfully. I always thought (perhaps wrongly) that the coded language spoken between the herdsman and his cattle required special skill. If that is the case, then it makes #ChidiSense to assume that only skilled herdsman will have the guts to rustle cattle away from their original owners totally undetected. Abi? Even though cows act like they follow follow dumbly, they apply #ChidiSense in their following. (None of the cows used for my old man's funeral even look my face, with about 6 able bodied men pulling at this same time, but the barely teenage boy that brought them just speaks the "code" and they willingly follow him to slaughter) #Shikena #MaganaYakare #ChidiSense #Discuss #Change #RealChange #Herdsmen #FulaniHerdsmen A photo posted by Chidi Mokeme (@chidimokeme) on May 17, 2016 at 3:02am PDT
GOVERNOR Samuel Ortom of Benue State, said the death toll in last Friday night’s attack on Tarfi village, Binnev Ward in Buruku Local Government area of the state by suspected herdsmen had risen to over 60, lamenting that Benue was a state under siege. Ortom According to him, his government was helpless and could not contain the activities of the herdsmen who he said were killing, maiming and raping women in Benue villages. Ortom said, “after committing the atrocities they sacked the locals from their abode after which they occupy the ‘captured territory’.” 1: The governor says the Death toll from this attack has risen to "OVER SIXTY". 2: The governor believes the attack were carried out by "SUSPECTED HERDSMEN". 3: The governor admits that the "STATE IS HELPLESS". 4: The governor admits that the "STATE CANNOT CONTAIN THE ACTIVITIES OF THE HERDSMEN". 5: The governor admits that the suspected herdsmen "OCCUPY CAPTURED TERRITORY". How is it that "Suspected Herdsmen" loot, rape, maim, kill, displace and "OCCUPY CAPTURED TERRITORY " and still remain faceless, invincible and untouchable? Abi na dia ghost dey occupy the territory?
