In movies we see werewolves, tree men, vampires and zombies but in real life, scientist have been able to associate certain health conditions with those names and characteristics.
Let’s take a look at some of those cases;
- Stone Man Syndrome: It is a generic disorder that turns soft tissue into bone overtime. The cell in charge of turning tissue into bone, turning Cartilage into bone in children, might go out of place and cause the sufferer’s bone to fuse together. Most of the time, this disease is not discovered in its early stage.
This disease is said to occur only 1 in 2million people and has no cure for now.
- Cotard’s Delusion: This is a sort of mental disorder which makes a person sincerely believe that a part of their body is missing or that they are dead, these people are often found around the graveyard where they believe is home to them. It often affects the brain causing them to completely detach themselves from their personal identity.
Medicines have been used to cure this condition, therapy is more effective.
- Tree Man Syndrome: it often just looks as a small growth, like the back of a tree growing on a person’s skin, caused by a rear mutation in the EVER1/ EVER2 genes, it causes the skin to be extremely influenced by and ancient taxonomic family of a non-enveloped DNA which typically don’t cause diseases.
Though one might get some form of treatment for it, no cure has been found for it yet.
- Vampires Syndrome: generally, humans need sun to process vitamin D but too much sun, affects the skin, over one million people currently live with this Vampire Syndrome. People with this condition are very sensitive to UV ray and stay completely out of sunlight else they experience serious skin burns, breakage of the skin and are prone to getting skin cancer’
- Werewolf Syndrome: people with this rear condition have an uncontrollable growth of hair all over their body and face. Those who are born with the syndrome suffer from different mutations, others who get this later in life might get it as a result of anti-balding treatments.
Though one might traditionally remove hair or undergo other forms of treatments but they won’t last.
- Water allergy: our body is mostly made of water so, having a water allergy obviously is strange, the cause of this allergy as it is called is not known but it has been speculated that it isn’t caused by water but rather chemicals or foreign bodies within water. However, even clean water sparks a reaction in some cases. People with this condition get itchy hives and welts at exposure of water.
- Foreign Accent Syndrome: Its normal for people to try and Imitate other accents as usually accents would give away one’s nationality or state of origin. Some however, uncontrollably speak in foreign accents, this could be side effect from stroke or brain injury.
The only cure for this is extensive speech therapy that will retrain the brain to speak in a certain way.
