'I Loved My Wife' - Lekan Shonde

Lekan Shonde, who allegedly killed his wife last Thursday at Egbeda is now insisting that his wife was hypertensive.

He told the police that his wife was his most priced possession, saying that her murder was not intentional.

It would be recalled that while in hiding, Lekan sent a message via Whatsapp to one of his friends (names withheld) stating his intention to commit suicide, the message dated May 7, 2016 reads: “Pls help me, I can’t face the Police or cell, they will kill me”.

After seeing that message one would argue if he was really afraid or he was feeling he had no case in court and would sure be convicted.

Lekan Shonde is claimed to have appeared at the police station after much persuasion and he explained:

“The cause of the quarrel was over infidelity. I overheard her discussing in a call to one Kayode, who was her boss and love. I never killed my wife. We had a normal quarrel after she owned up that she had a man friend. We didn’t talk over-night… I pushed her away the next day as I was leaving the house… later our nanny called to alert me of what had happened. I immediately called my landlady’s daughter and it was confirmed that my wife was dead". He Said.

He further said "I loved my wife… I did not kill her. She was hypertensive. I never spoke with any journalist before now. The media misquoted me.”

In another news, the Manager, Public and Government Affair, Mobil Oil, Akin Fatunke, has denied the appointment of Lekan Shonde in the organisation.

Updates on the issue would continue…
