Sensational Jose Mourinho is rumoured to be linked to Manchester United next season, with Van Gaal working with him.

The former Chelsea boss has been linked with the Old Trafford post ever since he was sacked at Stamford Bridge last December.

The Portuguese coach, 53, has remained coy on his future but has maintained he will return to club management this July.

United is believed to be his probable destination and according to a report by Neil Custis in The Sun , Mourinho could see himself join forces with the man he is set to succeed.

Van Gaal is under immense pressure after failing to secure a top-four finish and even winning the FA Cup this Saturday could fail to save him.

But he does have one year left remaining on his current contract and is adamant that he will see that through - and according to The Sun, that could be in a director of football capacity upstairs with Mourinho taking over the managerial role.
