China Taking Over The Phone Market In Nigeria
China's mobile phone industry industry has grown into a high rate, raising its share on the global mobile phone market. During 2007, 600 million mobile phones were made in China which accounted for over 50% of the global production.
In 1987, wireless telephone communication in the modern sense started by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of China, using GSM technology. A nationwide network was completed in the following year.
In a few years from then, the fixed telephone company (China Telecom) and two cell phone telephone companies (China Mobile and China Unicom) were spun off from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunication then, the fixed telephone company was split into two: China Netcom for North China and China Telecom for South China.
Some years later, China's cell phone service was provided by the three companies: GSM service from China Mobile and CDMA service from China Unicom.
In 2008, another reorganization of the telecommunications industry was made a year before the 3Gservice was granted.
At present china has more than 50 different brands of mobile phones selling in different countries including Nigeria.
China phones in Nigeria include; NOKIQ, Hauwei, ZTE Cooperation, Xiaomi, Tecno Mobile, Infinix, Innjoo, Gionee and a countless more that young people do not hesitate to go for. Gone are the days when young Nigerians didn’t want to be seen holding China made phones because of how loud they used to be, how heavy they were especially because they were not from companies like Nokia, Apple, Samsung and other sophisticated phone companies.
The china phone market in Nigeria is now a major problem solver, meeting the needs of young people to have their own android phones for a lesser price and also, save money by having two sim cards in one phone instead of buying or carrying two phones.
