No Gas To Generate Enough Power at 7,000MW – Osinbajo
The Vice President of Nigeria has attributed the power crisis in Nigeria to insufficient gas.
He reiterated that the available gas was not enough to power the country’s power plant that can serve up to 7,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity.
He further attributes the problem to low patronage of gas facilities, inadequate gas infrastructure and vandalism that is on the increase.
Osinbajo, who was speaking at the NAEE/International Association for Energy Economics, Annual International Conference 2016 in Abuja, ably represented by his Senior Special Assistant (Power and Privatization), Chiedu Ugbo, disclosed that the Federal Government is quite aware that there is no alternative to electric energy for energizing and powering Nigeria’s economic growth and development; and so the government determined to resolve the difficulties of power supply bitting hard on Nigerians.
