Congolese Musician, Papa Wemba Dies on Stage

Congolese music star, Jules Shungu Webadio, better known as Papa Wemba has reportedly died on stage during a performance in Abidjan Cote D'Ivore.

The 66 year old collapsed on stage while dancers kept dancing not knowing he had died.

Very popular across West, East and Central Africa with his soukous style of music, he inspired the popular Sapeurs movement known for their stylish and very colourful dressing. 

Papa Wemba lived with his own fair share of controversies including human trafficking conviction which earned him a short jail term in France. He will be remembered by his many fans across African and France.
